3 Year Bible Reading Plan

We have provided a simple reading plan for anyone who wants to read the Bible through and through. It is available here.

Books for Life

Accoring to Dallas Willard, Spiritual Formation is the “Spirit-driven process of forming the inner world of the human self in such a way that it becomes the inner being of Christ himself.”

Renovation of the Heart

Part of our growth involves the shaping and nurturing of the mind. What follows is a (non-exhaustive) selection of books which, if digested well, will nurture the “inner world of human self” and help us in our journey towards Christlikeness. If you know of a book or resource which has been particularly helpful in your own spiritual journey, don’t hesitate to drop me an email with your recommendation! – David

Guide to Bible Translations

The Message by Eugene Peterson (fresh and wonderfully readable, but take note that this is a paraphrase, not a translation)
New Living Translation (very readable and reliable)
New International Version (most popular translation)
Today’s New International Version (changes in the area of gender usage – i.e.: “mankind” becomes “humanity”, etc.)
King James Version (beautifully written, but not the latest manuscripts used – Seventeenth century)
New King James Version (none of the beauty of the KJV and all the mistakes)
New Revised Standard Version (used by mainline churches mostly)
English Standard Version (what the NRSV should have been)
New American Standard Version (quite “wooden” in flow, but helpful for study purposes)

Types of Bibles

Student Bible – Best Bible for new Christians! It helps people with no background to gently wade into God’s Word Study Bible – very dependable and helpful if you would like to learn some of the background meanings of passages.
Life Application Bible – Kind of like the Study Bible, but with more practical application.
Quest Bible – Helpful for new believers to learn how to “search the scriptures” for answers.
Serendipity Bible – Has a series of questions for every passage of Scripture. Quality of the questions ranges from poor to good. Especially helpful for Bible Study leaders.
Toddlers’ Bible – Great for …um… toddlers.
Picture Bible – Classic “comic” version of Scripture.
New Adventure Bible – Excellent kids Bible especially from ages 8-12 years old.
NIV Teen Study Bible – Quite helpful for teens (though a Student Bible is probably just as good).
NLT Hands-on Bible – Highly recommended for kids between 8-12 years old.

Who I Am In Jesus
