Leadership Development

CA Church seeks to intentionally develop called, passionate, engaged, and equipped leaders for ministry. In order to do that we facilitate two formal leadership programs every year.

Practical Ministry Program

The CA Church Practical Ministry Program will be a 8-month (September-April) immersion into the life and ministry of CA Church. Participants will bring energy and leadership into existing ministries of CA Church, while being coached and shepherded by the Director of Leadership Development as well as the Ministry Leader of the department they are serving in.

At the end of this program, the Trainee will have received theological teaching from the Pastors at CA Church, volunteer practical ministry experience within the vibrant ministries of CA Church, intensive leadership development/coaching as well as a ministry service trip to another country.

The ideal candidate for this program is a young adult between the ages of 18-25 years old who is looking for volunteer practical ministry experience and has a desire to learn. They should be longing to grow deeper in their faith, willing to be stretched personally, seeking to develop their ministry and leadership skills, wanting a deeper understanding of church ministry and desiring to be equipped for future ministry.

If this sounds like you but you don’t fit the age demographic – apply anyway! We are flexible and open to where God could be leading you and your possible placement in this program.

Applications are now closed for the 2017/2018 ministry year.

Church Pastoral Apprentice Program

The Pastoral Apprentice program is a 8-month (September-April) journey designed for the nearly graduated or graduated college/university student(preferably in ministry studies). This program offers a chance for the Apprentice to discern and investigate their spiritual gifts and calling in a safe environment. This program is highly field and experience based and will require the Apprentice to take on a portfolio on their own. They will be charged with the oversight and execution of their ministry area, building into leaders and volunteers, preaching and teaching, casting vision and other pastoral responsibilities.

There will be times of investment into the Apprentice through preaching modules, coaching through the rigours and challenges of pastoral ministry as well as constant feedback with their performance.

You can expect to work between 12-16 hours a week and unlike the Practical Ministry Program, you will receive a wage for your time and efforts.  If this sounds like you but you don’t fit the age demographic – apply anyway! We are flexible and open to where God could be leading you and your possible placement in this program.

Before applying the applicant should have discerned a call to ministry, as well as have had some formal theological training. If you would like support in discerning this call please contact Darrell Lim, Director of Leadership Development [darrell@cachurch.ca]
